A chilling new development has emerged in the case of a pastor’s brutal crucifixion murder. The suspect, now in police custody, was recorded on video admitting he had plans to kill 14 more people in what authorities believe could have been a serial killing spree. The murder, which took place last week in a rural area outside Atlanta, Georgia, shocked the local community and drew national attention. The victim, Pastor Elijah Moore, was found tied to a wooden structure in a crucifixion-style pose. He had suffered multiple stab wounds and severe trauma before dying at the scene.

Authorities quickly arrested 28-year-old Darius Trent in connection with the killing. In the days following his arrest, investigators recovered a disturbing self-recorded video in which Trent described Pastor Moore’s murder as “the beginning” and claimed that 14 others were “next in line.”

Authorities believe he may have been influenced by extremist religious ideology or experiencing a severe mental health crisis.

The FBI is working with local police and mental health experts to understand Trent’s motivations and determine whether he had accomplices or if any of his other planned attacks had been set into motion. So far, no additional victims have been identified, and no further attacks have occurred.

Community members held a vigil for Pastor Moore on Sunday, remembering him as a kind, compassionate leader who worked tirelessly to support families and at-risk youth. This man took away someone who gave his life to service,” said church member Linda Harper. “It’s terrifying to know there were more people he wanted to hurt
