On Saturday evening in Homestead at 1553 Southwest 5th Street, one of two individuals involved in an altercation escalated violently, prompting Homestead Police to shoot him before airlifting him for treatment at Jackson South Trauma Center. Homestead Police confirmed one individual has been taken to the hospital in stable condition from this shooting incident.
Police have yet to identify either of the individuals involved, though authorities confirmed that the shooting occurred within domestic relations. Unfortunately, their exact relationship remains unknown.
One woman who lives nearby shared her experience in witnessing the aftermath. She says she went over to see if anyone she knew had been shot, while at the same time being with her three daughters at the scene. At that time, she expressed concern at witnessing violence in their community, adding it would be unfortunate if her children witnessed such incidents themselves.
