Broward Sheriff’s Office officials suspect Moreira intentionally set the Deerfield Beach fire that resulted in four fatalities, with details still under investigation as they become available. Authorities have linked Moreira with this incident and will provide updates as more details become available regarding who perished and when.
Moreira now faces serious charges related to this crime and will likely be transported back to Broward County for his arraignment. On Sunday at 3 a.m. at the Booby Trap on the River strip club in Miami, a 95-foot yacht owned by Metro Boomin caught fire shortly after docking behind it at 3615 NW S River Dr. and began burning rapidly. No injuries were reported as a result.
Employees at Booby Trap noticed smoke coming from a vessel 15 minutes after docking, prompting workers, including Director of Security Michael Marhefka, to act swiftly, quickly evacuating approximately 10 guests, including Metro Boomin as well as five workers aboard. Marhefka verified that smoke could be seen within the yacht and that the fire alarms had activated, prompting their decision to abandon the ship and evacuate guests and workers from its waters.
Firefighters arrived at around 3:30 a.m. and began applying water and foam to put out the fire on board the yacht. However, their efforts did not succeed, as the flames continued burning for hours before eventually sinking into the Miami River.
This incident has shed light on violent crime and arson in Broward County. The Broward Sheriff’s Office took swift and decisive action to ensure justice was served; Moreira’s arrest serves as an illustration of law enforcement cooperation across counties to locate suspects involved in serious offenses; more details will likely emerge as this case moves forward.
