On Friday evening in Pompano Beach, an illegal hit-and-run collision resulted in one woman’s death and left her husband seriously hurt. Patricia Marciate, aged 74 years, and Salvatore Marciate were crossing East Atlantic Boulevard near Pompano Beach Boulevard around 9 pm when a pickup truck struck them from behind, killing Patricia instantly while leaving Salvatore seriously hurt.
Patricia was taken immediately into surgery but died later that afternoon due to internal bleeding; Salvatore sustained both a brain bleed and a broken leg and underwent further procedures today, according to family members.
The family is devastated, while those responsible have been charged with DUI manslaughter as well as hit-and-run. Authorities continue their investigation of this crash to hold those at fault accountable.
