Authorities believe a fire at a duplex in Deerfield Beach on Thursday morning to be “suspicious”. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded around 4:30 am at Northwest 43rd Street and Northwest 4th Avenue and found heavy smoke and flames coming from one side of the duplex, as they battled the blaze they discovered a body in a back bedroom belonging to the deceased woman whose identity remains unknown but has been verified as female by NBC6.
Families living next door were able to escape safely as firefighters quickly put out the flames. Within twenty minutes, firefighters had brought it under control while also saving a beloved pup from its ordeal and successfully reuniting it with its family members.
Authorities have classified the fire’s cause as suspicious. Battalion Chief Michael Kane stated that while its cause remains undisclosed, its nature may be under suspicion, and are continuing to examine this incident and try to ascertain what led up to it and the tragic death of one woman.
