Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) officials are conducting an investigation of an early Monday morning fatal pedestrian crash near Broward Boulevard on Interstate 95’s southbound ramp near Fort Lauderdale. A 2024 Hyundai driven by a woman was said to have hit and killed one pedestrian walking on the outside lane of the ramp, according to FHP officials.
Driver, a 62-year-old woman from Lake Placid, Florida, reported being powerless to take any evasive action before hitting a pedestrian, who was sent flying. Emergency responders later confirmed her demise at the scene.
The driver was unharmed in this accident. Following its occurrence, the Broward Boulevard ramp was temporarily shut off while FHP investigated what led up to this collision. At present, authorities have provided no details regarding who the pedestrian is or any events leading up to it.
