Multiple passengers were killed when a single-engine plane crash and fire occurred at Wright Brothers National Memorial’s First Flight Airport in North Carolina on Saturday, officials reported. At 5 p.m. local time on Sunday evening at an airport located near Kill Devil Hills, according to a news release issued by the National Park Service (NPS), there was an accident involving an aircraft at 5 pm local time at an aircraft hangar located nearby the airport.
NPS reported that eyewitnesses reported seeing the plane try to land at the airport when a crash occurred and afterward fire started burning it, leading to its destruction. Nadia Popruzhenko told WVEC-TV she saw it make its descent while driving, then saw its flames follow its descent before it eventually hit.
Initially, I thought he was very high; then suddenly, he came tumbling down too fast for my comfort,” Popruzhenko remarked. “This one dropped so rapidly that I thought it had gone too low. NPS confirmed several passenger fatalities due to this crash. It remains unknown exactly who were aboard when it crashed.
