Two people escaped injury in an early Tuesday morning fire in Miramar. It started at 2:55 a.m. near SW 68th Avenue and SW 33rd Street; firefighters quickly extinguished it within 30 minutes with no reported injuries to any parties involved.
Derrick Howe, who has lived at his house for forty years and cares for an elderly resident, describes how he had to pull the man out through the back door after finding that his front door had become blocked with flames. Howe initially believed police had started the fire outside, but upon opening his front door, he was met by intense flames that prevented entry.
Howe and the elderly man were both asleep when the fire started, and Howe’s niece received an alert from a surveillance camera to hear its spread. While its cause remains unknown, Howe and his family must relocate. Contact us for fire watch services today
