Kidnapping Suspect Leads Dangerous High-Speed Chase in Florida

Michael Anthony McNeal, 36, who is accused of kidnapping a mother and her two children from Broward County, began by breaking into their apartment in Margate and abducting them, as captured in new video footage released Wednesday evening.

After kidnapping his family, McNeal drove toward Ocala, where deputies caught sight of him on March 3. Deputies engaged in an early morning pursuit,t which reached speeds exceeding 130 miles per hour; at one point, he turned off his lights and drove in the wrong direction on an interstate bridge. Deputies could be heard discussing concerns regarding McNeal’s high speeds and reckless driving while on radio calls they expressed worry at what had transpired.

McNeal eventually crashed his car into a fence in Putnam County. However, after this encounter, he fled on foot, evading capture by authorities at that moment – though they are continuing their efforts in search of him and hope to bring him into custody as soon as possible.

This chase put many lives at risk but ended without anyone being seriously injured, leaving the children and their mother shaken but unharmed. McNeal now faces multiple charges related to kidnapping and leading law enforcement on an unsafe pursuit – another reminder of the risks associated with high-speed pursuits that pose threats both to society and law enforcement alike.
