Timothy Schmidt Jr. was tragically taken from us last October during a Halloween celebration in downtown Orlando. Affectionately known by friends and family as Timo, Tim was studying marketing at UCF while being active in the Weston community as a passionate soccer player and community member.
Schmidt recently issued an emotional statement in which he addressed the deep void left by Timo’s death, detailing how his instinct is still to reach for his phone to send or read texts from Timo, “when they should not exist”. Schmidt wept tearfully as he spoke. “Some days I wake up looking for his texts, but they are no longer there; at night, when it would normally be goodnight texts from me and him, yet no reply comes back ‘goodnight.’ His presence has left.”
Timo’s death occurred during what should have been an enjoyable Halloween night celebration in downtown Orlando. Although specific details regarding his demise remain undisclosed in reports released to date, grieving father Scott Schmidt announced on Tuesday that he intends to file suit against both Orlando City Hall and the Police Department as soon as a date for filing has been set.
Schmidt has filed this suit to voice his serious dissatisfaction over the circumstances and response of law enforcement to this tragedy. While specific allegations cannot be determined from public information available, Schmidt believes negligence contributed to his son’s untimely demise by the authorities and believes this issue needs further exploration.

As legal proceedings commence, Schmidt continues to honor Timo’s memory by reflecting back upon the last text message they exchanged before Timo left home that evening–an ongoing reminder of all he lost. Meanwhile, this case has garnered public scrutiny and raised important issues surrounding safety during large city events. Contact us for Personal Bodyguard Services Today!
