Juan Antonio Vera was arrested and returned from Tampa to Miami-Dade following charges tied to the June 4 shooting incident that resulted in four fatal shots fired at an open area on Miami Beach. First-degree murder and attempted murder are now filed against Vera for the incident that happened just four days prior.
Shooting took place near a homeless encampment near railroad tracks near Brightline station in Miami and upon police arriving found one dead and one seriously wounded by gunfire; both individuals were transported by Jackson Memorial Hospital ambulance for treatment of gunfire wounds respectively; Abran Cumba has since been identified as being killed during this incident.
Police identified Vera after initiating their investigation and, working alongside local law enforcement officials there, Miami-Dade officials were able to take him into custody and extradite him back home to Miami-Dade.
Details surrounding what led up to Vera’s shooting remain limited and unsolved; at present no motive or connection between Vera and his victims has been publicly released.
Arrest marks some progress for a case that raised concerns of safety among Miami’s homeless communities and near transit hubs. The tragic event was a reminder to vulnerable individuals living on the streets or nearby transit hubs of their many difficulties they must contend with daily.

Local authorities continue to collect evidence and interview witnesses as they try to gain more clarity of events, while community members hope justice will prevail and measures taken can protect those living under difficult conditions. Contact us for Personal Bodyguard Services Today!
