Woman Arrested for Fatally Shooting Husband in Miami Gardens

Shaneeka Harris, 40, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder after she is said to have fatally shot her husband, Aaron Swatts, at their Miami Gardens townhome at 19336 Northwest 46th Avenue on April 18. Police reported responding to reports of shots being fired at this address and reacted accordingly.

Officers observed activity from an upper window and instructed everyone in the home to evacuate immediately. A juvenile, later identified as J.T., came outside to inform officers his brother had been shot in the foot; Harris exited together with T. Tully, who also sustained gunshot injuries to his right thigh.

Officers searched the townhouse and located Aaron Swatts lying unresponsive near an upstairs bedroom doorway, apparently dead from gunshot injuries sustained to his back, which appeared fatal. Although details surrounding Harris’s involvement remain hazy, an arrest report shows he was involved. Authorities continue to assess precisely what transpired before this shooting as they piece together its details and unfold.

Harris was recently charged with second-degree murder for her husband’s shooting death, leaving both Harris and the community shaken by this tragic event.
