Couple Arrested for Falsifying Records to Impersonate Nurse

Alexia Irwin and Julien Williams from Clay County were arrested Tuesday in Michigan after Irwin falsified records to assist Williams’ attempts at impersonating a nurse. Both will face multiple charges, including 14 counts of practicing medicine without a license.

An investigation began October 13 after an elderly man died of natural causes while under Williams’ care at a Jacksonville home health care service. Irwin, working in patient care coordination and human resources at this company, convinced them to hire him as a home health aide without proper training or credentials; Irwin then falsified several records using a former licensed nurse’s identity so he could pose as a qualified employee while Irwin falsified documents allowing Williams to pose as a qualified employee.

Once hired, Williams used his fake credentials to care for an elderly patient in Clay County, using their fabricated status to earn him a high wage. Following this patient’s death, an investigation was opened against Irwin and Williams by detectives; these detectives then revealed their fraudulent activities.

Although investigators were unable to find evidence that either individual was involved with the patient’s death, they were arrested on charges of fraud by U.S. Marshals in Michigan and will remain there until extradited to Clay County, where extradition proceedings will take place. Though they face serious charges, including murder or manslaughter due to lack of evidence, they remain subject to extradition proceedings. Contact us for HOSPITAL SECURITY SERVICES today
