The Miami-Dade bus driver accused of shooting and killing two passengers last week has resigned from their post, according to county officials. An argument between him and passengers escalated into gunfire that ended with two deaths: 44-year-old Lonnie Harley was shot while sitting near Northwest Seventh Avenue and 183rd Street in Miami Gardens. At the same time, 46-year-old Ejaash Carter also perished from gunshot wounds while waiting.
Even though this incident was so grave, no details regarding its perpetrator have yet been provided, and no charges have been issued against them. Miami Gardens police and the State Attorney’s Office are working together to investigate this case; concerns have been raised as the Department of Transportation prohibits transit employees from possessing weapons while on duty.

Authorities are working to understand more about the altercation that led to the fatal shooting and are gathering additional details about it. Their investigation continues, with expected updates as officials determine precisely what caused it and why. Meanwhile, the county has accepted the driver’s resignation but remains unsure of any additional disciplinary actions they may be subject to. Contact us for PERSONAL SECURITY SERVICES today
