Two Lauderhill residents are being recognized for their heroic acts in saving three residents from an Easter weekend house fire that occurred near Sunrise Boulevard and Turnpike on Easter morning. The fire severely damaged the home in question, making it nearly unrecognizable to its current residents and creating an anxious Easter season for their entire family.
Witnesses reported six people were inside when it caught fire, two were quickly recognized as local heroes who responded swiftly to assist those inside and ensure that family members could escape unhurt, potentially saving lives in the process. Icon Young expressed pride at helping save his home from foreclosure by saying: ‘There is a God, and my actions helped stop foreclosures too.” NBC6 interviewed one of them later, who described their motivation:
