Broward County sheriff’s deputies responded to Oakland Park on Sunday evening after reports of a suspicious person, identified by Andrew Wilkinson as possessing a 6-inch knife and wielding it while stabbing at passing cars while shouting. Wilkinson alerted 911 of this activity.
Wilkinson told Local 10 News that he quickly recognized something was amiss and decided to alert authorities. According to Wilkinson, an unknown individual was asking for free food at a nearby Checkers restaurant prior to this encounter; deputies quickly surrounded the area in response, garnering significant law enforcement involvement in response.
No details regarding his arrest or possible charges have yet been made public, though authorities continue to probe what led to this man’s erratic behavior.
