Newly released surveillance footage has captured the moments leading up to and immediately before a fatal shoot-out between a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s deputy and an individual involved in a domestic dispute and believed to be armed, which took place Sunday around 6:30 p.m. near Tuscany 3 Village near Southwest 130th Avenue and 132nd Terrace in Tuscany 3 Village neighborhood in Tuscany 3 Village near Southwest 130th Avenue and 132nd Terrace.
Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz reported that the confrontation began after a woman called 911 to report domestic abuse by her spouse, prompting deputies to respond quickly; dramatic footage shows several officers arriving quickly on the scene and one who approached with a gun drawn towards an individual who later came with weapons drawn as evidence against his case. Video footage captures an individual exiting an SUV as the deputy issues instructions to raise his hands and check for weapons. When the subject started lifting back up his shirt and began lifting it back over his shoulders, shooting was immediately initiated by the deputy before issuing more instructions and firing more rounds as soon as the individual collapsed to the ground.
Emergency personnel from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported him to a local hospital for treatment; unfortunately, he later succumbed to his injuries and passed away from them. Authorities have yet to reveal his identity, but they know he is between 25 and 35. Video has raised serious concerns regarding Deputy’s use of force; however, law enforcement officials maintain she reacted due to perceived threats posed by an individual who seemed to reach for weapons, prompting the deputy to respond accordingly.
