On January 29th at approximately 6 p.m. on I-95 in Broward County, 35-year-old Xavier Williams was killed after he was shot multiple times near Oakland Park Boulevard in Southbound lanes of I-95 Southbound lanes. Authorities received the call about this incident shortly before 6 pm and responded quickly – deputies from Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO), Florida Highway Patrol troopers, and local fire and police departments quickly arrived on the scene to find critically injured Williams. Xavier Williams was transported by ambulance to Broward Health Medical Center, where he later passed away.
Investigators believe the shooting began with a physical altercation at Williams’ Pompano Beach residence earlier in the day between Williams and an adult woman, followed by her departure with another adult male and the subsequent discharge of their weapon on I-95, fatally wounding Williams. The shooter remained at the scene after discharge of their weapon, claiming self-defense before remaining cooperative during law enforcement interviews as additional witnesses were interviewed during this investigation.
As detectives worked the scene, all southbound lanes of Interstate 95 were closed for approximately four hours due to traffic delays caused by police investigation of this incident. Authorities continue their inquiries into this event. Contact us for security guard services Today!
