Man Arrested for Threatening Officer Over $25 Fine

Jacob Andrew Murphy was arrested Monday in Biscayne Park, Florida, after threatening to shoot a code enforcement officer over a $25 fine incurred for failing to remove trash containers properly. Murphy first approached Village officials earlier that day asking for contact info of Rafael Gutierrez – once receiving this number he called Gutierrez directly concerning discussing a fine issued against him for failing to do so.

Authorities claim Murphy became upset and made threats against Gutierrez during their phone conversation, prompting police to arrest him on charges of threatening public servants and issue him a bond of $2,500 before taking custody.

The incident underscores the seriousness of making threats against public officials, which can even result in relatively minor offences such as this $25 fine. Authorities took it seriously and took precautions to protect Murphy and the officer involved while taking legal action against him.

Murphy’s arrest serves as a timely reminder that any threat against public servants, regardless of circumstances, will not be tolerated, and appropriate legal consequences will follow. Local law enforcement is now handling this case, with more proceedings expected within days. Contact us for SERVICES DE SÉCURITÉ PERSONNELLE Today!
