John Isom was arrested Sunday following allegations he engaged in an act of horrific assault against an 81-year-old woman in Lauderdale Lakes early Friday morning, before 4:30 am near Northwest 50th Avenue and Northwest 34th Street. Deputies at the Broward Sheriff’s Office arrived to find that the elderly victim was traumatized after someone unknown had attacked and thrown her onto the ground, before allegedly throwing her down and assaulting her, according to witness statements given during deputies’ arrival at the scene.
Two witnesses heard a woman’s distressful pleas for assistance and quickly arrived on the scene to find Isom holding onto his victim. Without hesitation, they intervened to get him off her and cause him to flee; later, investigators managed to track him down using surveillance footage from the area and identify and arrest him.
Isom is now facing serious charges, such as sexual battery on an adult aged 18 years or over, false imprisonment, and assault against someone 65 years or over. These serious allegations represent both Isom’s exploitation of senior citizen victims as well as his brutal attack upon them.
