An investigation is currently ongoing after a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) trooper fatally shot and killed an Ocala hospital suspect early Friday morning, January 30. As reported by the Ocala Police Department, officers responded to HCA Hospital on 1st Avenue after another officer called for assistance at 2:51 a.m. It was then discovered that the trooper had become engaged in physical altercations with a suspect, who was already under arrest, before initiating shooting action against her.
Details regarding the altercation and events leading up to the shooting remain unknown as investigations progress. Thankfully, no law enforcement officers or hospital staff were injured during this incident, and according to protocol, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) has been asked to conduct its own probe of it.
Authorities are still gathering information and conducting interviews to determine what caused this incident. Other than the initial law enforcement response, the hospital felt no lasting impact. Contact us for SERVICES DE SÉCURITÉ PERSONNELLE Today!
