Car Fire Disrupts Traffic at Miami International Airport

Traffic was temporarily altered at Miami International Airport (MIA) early Tuesday when a car caught fire near Concourse D on the departure level, and soon afterwards, caused fire rescue crews to respond rapidly – as seen on NBC6 footage – to extinguish and restore service as quickly as possible.

No injuries were reported in this fire, and its precise cause remains unidentified, although authorities are conducting an investigation to ascertain its source.

After the incident, a tow truck removed the damaged car; however, significant cleanup work remained necessary as fire-related debris had yet to be cleared from surrounding areas.

MIA released a statement alerting travelers of its response, notifying them that all airport traffic would be diverted onto the arrival level while cleanup work on departure continued. One of four TSA checkpoints at Concourse D was temporarily shut due to the proximity between the fire and the terminal area.

Airport officials advised travelers heading to MIA to allow extra time, as traffic diversion continued and congestion persisted. Crews have worked quickly and safely to restore normal operations and reopen these areas as soon as possible. Contact us for FIRE WATCH Services Today!
