Collin Griffith, 17, was recently cleared of charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping for stabbing his mother Catherine Griffith (39). This verdict came over one year after it was determined he killed his father in self-defense.
At approximately 8:24PM on September 8, 2024 at Griffith’s grandmother’s house in Auburndale, Polk County he ran away to while she was visiting Florida Keys. After refusing to return home his mother drove there; witnesses witnessed them argue outside before Griffith grabbed hold of her hair and pulled her in.
Two hours later, Griffith called 911 again, reporting a fight with his mother and that she was bleeding from her neck. Authorities later discovered he had stabbed her twice with a kitchen knife. When deputies arrived he immediately stated, “I know my rights and want an attorney.”

After 11 hours of deliberation by a jury, it was ruled that Griffith did not commit murder when he shot and killed his father in self-defense. This ruling echoes previous legal cases regarding Griffith where self-defense was found as justification for his action in killing his father. Contact us for SERVICES DE SÉCURITÉ PERSONNELLE Today!
